Birmingham City have parted company with Garry Monk, as announced on their official club website. Here are five potential candidates to take over from him-
Pep Clotet- The 42-year-old has been placed in caretaker charge of the Blues. He worked under Monk at Swansea City, Leeds United and Birmingham. He previously managed Oxford United from July 2017 until January 2018, where he won 12 games out of 36 matches.
Nigel Adkins- The former Scunthorpe United, Southampton, Reading and Sheffield United boss is available after leaving Hull City last week. He did an impressive job with the Tigers under difficult circumstances and deserves another shot in the second tier.
Danny Cowley- The Lincoln City boss appears to be linked with every job that becomes available in the Championship. He has guided the Imps from the National League to League One but will take some persuading to leave Sincil Bank.
Aitor Karanka- Birmingham have said they will take a fresh approach next season and the Spaniard could fit the bill for them. The former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest boss knows all about this division and would be good fit for the St Andrew’s club.
Chris Hughton- The experienced boss managed the Blues durinig the 2011/12 season during which they played in the Europa League and finished 5th in the league. Could they target their former boss?
