Friday, 4th Oct 2019 11:35

Town duo Flynn Downes and Andre Dozzell have been named in the England U20s squad for friendlies in Italy and against the Czech Republic at Peterborough later this month.

The Young Lions take on the Italians on Thursday 10th October in Parma, then face the Czechs at London Road on Monday 14th October.

Downes has previously won two U20s caps but wasn't included in the squad for last month's internationals.

Dozzell played in both those matches taking his U20s cap total to five.

Town's game against Wycombe Wanderers, which was scheduled to be played next Saturday, has been postponed due to the Blues' international calls and will now be played on Tuesday 26th November.

England U20s: Joe Bursik (Accrington Stanley, loan from Stoke City), Billy Crellin (Fleetwood Town), Thomas McGill (Brighton & Hove Albion), Jayden Bogle (Derby County), Nathan Ferguson (West Bromwich Albion), Lewis Gibson (Everton), Tariq Lamptey (Chelsea), Joel Latibeaudiere (FC Twente, loan from Manchester City), Japhet Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur), Brandon Williams (Manchester United), Flynn Downes (Ipswich Town), Andre Dozzell (Ipswich Town), Conor Gallagher (Charlton Athletic, loan from Chelsea), Callum Slattery (Southampton), Marcus Tavernier (Middlesbrough), Luke Bolton (Luton Town, loan from Manchester City), Jack Clarke (Leeds United, loan from Tottenham Hotspur), Jonathan Leko (Charlton Athletic, loan from WBA), Danny Loader (Reading), Ian Poveda-Ocampo (Manchester City).

Well done boys, and well done for calling off the Wycombe game Lambert. It's a shame Brenda from Needham Market now can't make the rearranged fixture but at least we won't be missing some key players!

With the exception of one Fleetwood player, all the rest belong to PL or Championship clubs (some admittedly on loan). Says a lot for our young players that they can do themselves justice in this company. Downes in particular looks like a great prospect. No budgies, I notice!
